PODCAST: Christmas Jingles

Merry Christmas!! What a wonderful time of the year! Outside of all the presents, Christmas cookies, Advent calendars, the most important thing to remember is the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Chistmas is a sacred relgious holiday and of course a worldwide cultural phenomenon. For over 2000 years, people around the world have been celebrating Christmas with their own traditions and practices that are both religious and secular in nature. 

Here in the United States, some of our popular customs include exchaging gifts, decorating Christmas trees, going to church, sharing in meals with family and friends, anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus, and of course rocking out to some awesome Christmas tunes. 

Growing up, it was not uncommon in my house to wake up each December day, leading up to Christmas, hearing Christmas songs bellowing up our stairs. Not only was it a pleasant reminder of what was to come, but it was a great start to each morning. Between Rocking Around the Christmas Tree or Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Christmas songs each day allowed me to get into the Christmas spirit.

Throughout the year, the music still plays, but the reality of what Christmas means is really the most important thing. To be mindful and appreciate the gift of generosity. Granted, as a child, I loved getting gifts, but now as an adult it really is about who I am sharing my Christmas with and helping those who are in most need. 

But I digress, you are here for the music!
